Letters from the Fairies of the Cotswolds

Tales from Fairyland is a monthly fairy letter subscription where fairies write each month with news, stories, and secrets from their world, sent by post to your door. Set in real places and shaped by the turning seasons, each letter invites children and adults into a magical correspondence rooted in folklore, nature, and imagination.

A story told by post

Each month a letter arrives from Fairyland, continuing an unfolding story set among the woods, hills, and villages of the Cotswolds. The tale follows the natural rhythms of the year. It subtly includes what is growing, what is fading, and how humans and fairies can celebrate our wonderful world together.

Written to be read slowly and returned to often, the letters integrate storytelling with learning about folklore, nature, and seasonal traditions. Fairytales are for everyone, and readers of different ages may take different things from the same story.

What Arrives Each Month

Every monthly fairy letter includes:

A new chapter of the ongoing fairy story

A crossword linked to folklore, nature and tradition

A grounding activity inspired by traditional British customs and the natural world

A colouring page illustrated by artist Jack Collis

A creative prompt to write or draw and send back to Fairyland

Selected replies are showcased in the following month’s letter, creating a  community of likeminded individuals and a platform to share your love of nature.

Guided by the Seasons

The fairy letters follow the natural year, drawing on:

Seasonal plants and wildflowers

British fairy folklore and customs

Real locations across the Cotswolds

As the seasons turn, so does the story and setting. Therefore, the letters help readers to engage with cyclical changes, feeling rooted in place and tradition.

The letters are designed with care, inspired by traditional craft and early printed storytelling, and made to be kept.

Special Letters

Alongside the monthly correspondence, one-off fairy letters are available for life’s special milestones, for example birthdays, lost teeth, and other moments that deserve a little magic.

For Thoughtful Readers

Tales from Fairyland is written for readers of all ages, with language independently accessible from around age eight. It is for families seeking a fairy letter subscription rooted in folklore and nature, and for adults who enjoy snail mail or believe that magic lives quietly alongside the everyday.
